Instructions for Insert Enclosure
Multiple kinds of inserts can be distributed between Helsingin Sanomat and Ilta-Sanomat, from two-page ads to leaflets with multiple pages. Insert enclosure is done at Sanomapaino and its partner printing presses.
Follow these instructions to ensure that the enclosure of your printed product is as successful as possible.
Insert sizes:
Minimum: 105 x 148 mm (A6)
Maximum: 280 x 400 mm
Recommended paper:
- 2 pages 150 g/m2
- 4 pages 115 g/m2
- 6 pages 60 g/m2
- 8 pages 50 g/m2
Please observe the following when creating inserts:
The insert is a separate printed product distributed between Helsingin Sanomat or Ilta-Sanomat.
An insert type not printed in Sanomapaino must be pre-approved by Helsingin Sanomat / Sanomapaino. This way we can ensure successful insert enclosure.
Advertorial inserts must display the word MAINOSLIITE ("ad insert") on each page.
An insert with multiple pages that is a size A5 or larger is folded along its long edge.
The headband of an insert must be rectangular and the trim surface must be smooth.
Glue-drop attachments must be glued inside the insert, not left loose.
An insert is enclosed between a newspaper typically so that its cover faces up. This may change in exceptional cases due to technical reasons.
5% more inserts must be added to the enclosed number.
The maximum insert weight is 250 g. If the weight of an insert exceeds 150 g, the schedule must be confirmed separately.
If inserts stick to each other due to e.g. fresh ink or static electricity, we shall not be held responsible for any failures in insert enclosure.
Leftover inserts are disposed of after insert enclosure, unless otherwise agreed upon.
Leftover inserts may be returned or stored, in which case the customer shall cover the transport and storage costs.
Packing Instructions
Inserts are packed in loose bundles with turns that are as large as possible or, ideally, without any turns.
The bundles may not be shrink-wrapped or have plastic straps.
Inserts are loaded so that they do not protrude over the edges of the pallet.
The maximum height of a pallet is 120 cm.
The pallet must be fastened so as to avoid damage during transportation.
Small inserts and inserts that are difficult to load on a pallet are packed into boxes.
Inserts are packed systematically so that they face the same way in all boxes. The type and form of the insert must enable their handling without additional preparations.
Handling inserts that have been packed poorly or incorrectly or inserts that have been damaged during transport cause disruptions in production, which incur additional costs. We charge EUR 60/h (VAT 0%) for the additional handling of inserts.
The contact person will immediately notify the customer if any problems are detected.
