Feed based retargeting

In an online store, purchase decisions are often not made immediately, but require reminders to the visitor. Dynamic retargeting, or remarketing, is an excellent way to ensure that the sale is completed when the visitor has left your online store without making a purchase. You can also expand the visitor's knowledge of your products by using an ad format that shows other products in the same category.

Feed based retargeting is suitable for ongoing campaigns, with a minimum campaign time of one month. The ad content shows the products that the consumer has viewed on your website. The target group can be narrowed down by excluding those who have already purchased the product. We are able to optimize remarketing so that ads are not shown to the visitor too often.

For a DCO ad, we require the following materials:

A feed
A DCO script
Necessary materials for the ad template (such as background images, logos, and font files)

For a DCO retargeting campaign, the customer needs to install tracking tags on their website, which "stamp" visitors to the site, enabling retargeted ads to be shown to those visitors on Sanoma's pages.

Before installing the retargeting tags, the customer must provide a retargeting scenario along with the other campaign materials, indicating what content will be shown to the visitor in the DCO ad based on their website activity. For example, if a visitor has viewed certain running shoes on an online store, Sanoma's network will show those shoes along with other products in the same category or from the same brand.

Sanoma will provide the retargeting tags and more detailed instructions to the customer. After the tags are installed, we will verify that visitor statistics are accumulating and then start the campaign.

Feed based parade

Feed based parade is a tactical ad format that is suitable for product advertising as well as campaign and brand advertising. The ad appears in a prime location on both mobile and desktop devices. Products can be browsed within the ad, and they are sourced either from a feed or a Google Sheets document.

Example of a desktop-implementation 

For a DCO ad, we always need the following materials:

Feed
DCO script
Required assets for the ad template (e.g. possible background images, logos, font files)

Sizes:

  • 980 x 400 and 600 x 600 px

Background:

  • Background color or images at 980x400px and/or 600x600px, max 100kb, JPG or PNG.

  • The default background color is white.

Logo:

  • Logo image file (PNG, SVG) with a transparent background.

  • If the logo is included in the background image, a separate logo file is not needed.

Headline:

  • There is an area for a short text in the top right corner of the banner (25 characters), but it's not mandatory.

  • Specify the desired text, font, and color in the script.

Product slider:

  • Product information comes from the feed.

  • The slider displays at least the product image.

  • The following fields can be shown/hidden in the slider: product name (title), price (sale_price), original price (price).

  • If there is no discounted price in the feed, the original price is automatically used in the Price column.

  • Specify the font and color for the product name, price, and original price in the script.

Stickers in the slider:

  • It's possible to use a sticker in the product cards of the slider (not mandatory) to show a short text, such as "NEW," "OFFER," "SALE," "-50%".

  • There are three possible locations and shapes for the sticker: top left corner, top right corner, bottom left corner (see example).

  • The chosen sticker will appear the same in all product cards.

  • Specify the desired sticker, text, font, font color, and sticker color in the script.

CTA button:

  • A short CTA message (max 25 characters)

  • the font and color of the text, button color, and corner rounding.

General:

  • The default fonts for the banner are Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Georgia, and Times.

  • Custom fonts can be used, but font files (.woff or .ttf) must be provided with the assets.

Feed based Half Page

Tactical ad format in the skyscraper spot on desktop and in-article spot on mobile devices. Size: 300x600 px. The format is ideal for presenting six different products at the same time. A feed is not necessary to run the ad, but it can be run by adding the product information in Google Sheets and can also be updated in the same way. The format allows you to choose whether the small icon will redirect the visitor directly to the landing page or whether they will first be shown a larger image of the product.

Example

For a DCO advertisement, we need the following materials:

Size

  • 300 x 600 px banner with 6 product boxes

Background

  • Background color or image 300x600 or 600x1200 (JPG or PNG), max 100kb

  • The background of the products in the grid and product view is always white. The background image/color appears behind the grid/product view.

Logo

  • Logo image file (PNG, SVG) with a transparent background.
  • If the logo is in the background image, the logo file is not needed.

Products

  • Product images and information come from the feed.
  • The product grid displays the product image, product name, price, original price, and the product view also includes the product description.
  • Specify the font and color of the text elements in the script.

CTA button

  • There is an area for the CTA button below the product grid and product view. The CTA can also be added to the background image, so a separate CTA button is not needed.
  • Specify in the script for the CTA button: a short CTA call-to-action (max 25 characters), the text font and color, button color, and corner rounding.

General

  • The banner uses default fonts: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Georgia, and Times.
  • Custom fonts can be used, in which case the font files must be provided in .woff or .ttf format.

Dynamic vertical parade without a ready-made feed

Ad guidelines for dynamic parade and vertical parade.

Dynamic vertical parade is 300 x 600 pixels in size and displays six different products at a time. To function, the ad format requires a product catalog. This guide will walk you through how to use the Dynamic vertical parade without a pre-existing feed, using a simple Google Sheets spreadsheet to add product information.

For the Dynamic Vertical Banner, the following materials need to be provided:

  • Product catalog as a CSV URL or Excel file (as well as product image files if it's not possible to host them)

  • Background image (or color code)

  • Logo file

  • Script containing information about desired text fonts, colors, and CTA button.

Please see instructions for creating a product feed in Google Sheets.

Required material

Background

The background can be a color or an image. The image file should be 300x600px or 600x1200px, JPG or PNG format, and max 100kb. If no background image or color is provided, the default background color is white. Please note that the background behind the product grid and product view is always white with a light gray border, and the background image/color will be visible behind them.

Logo

The logo should be provided as an image file (PNG, SVG) with a transparent background, with a maximum size of 600x600px. The logo will be scaled to fit the designated area. If the logo is included in the background image, a separate logo file does not need to be provided.

Products

Product images and information should be provided in a product feed (instructions below). The product grid will display the product image, name, and price, while the product view will also include the product description. Please choose the font and color for the text elements.

CTA button

Below the product grid and on the product view, there is an area reserved for the CTA button. The CTA can also be added to the background image, in which case a separate CTA button is not necessary.   Please provide the following information with your material:   Short text for the CTA button (maximum of 25 characters), the font and color you want to use for the text, and whether you want the edges of the CTA button to be rounded.

NOTE! For the banner, you can choose from one of the following fonts: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Georgia, or Times.   You can provide the desired colors in hex color code, RGB or HSL codes.

Feed based Full Page with carousel

Visually impressive ad format that combines brand advertising and tactical advertising. The upper part of the ad can display a video or an image to communicate either the company’s brand or the desired product category more specifically. The lower part highlights the desired products from the product feed for the user to browse. Finally, a clear call to action prompts the user to purchase a product.

For the DCO ad, we need the following materials:

DCO script
Assets required for the ad template (such as background images, logos, font files)

Full-page video with product slider at the bottom

Size:

620 x 891 px

Banner elements:

  • Background:
    background color or image The background can be either a color (default: white) or an image file at 620x891px, max 100kb (JPG, PNG).
    Note: the background color should be white where the product slider is located if the product images do not have a transparent background.

  • Logo
    Image file (preferably PNG or SVG) with a transparent background.
     A logo file is not mandatory if the logo is visible in the background image.

  • Header text
    The banner has an area for short text in the upper right corner (25 characters), not mandatory.
    Define the desired text, font, and color in the script.

  • Video file
    The video area above the product slider is 560x316px.
    Video format: MP4 or MOV (H.264)

    • Max 1920 x 1080 pixels, 25 fps

    • Stereo sound 44.1 kHz or 48kHz, Audio levels: according to the EBU R128 standard -23 LUFS

    • Video bitrate: 8,000 – 16,000 kbps, Audio bitrate: 384 kbps

    • Max video size is 3.5Mt

The video can be assigned a separate link that it redirects to, regardless of the product displayed in the product slider. If no separate direction is given, it redirects to the product's address displayed in the feed.

  • Product slider
    Product image, product name, price, and original price will come from the feed. The product image is displayed at a minimum in the slider. The following fields can be shown/hidden in the slider: product name (title), price (sale_price), original price (price). If there is no discounted price in the feed, the original price will automatically be used in the Price column. Specify the fonts and colors for the product name, price, and original price in the asset script.

An optional, separate text can be assigned to the slider, which is retrieved from the feed's brand field. The text appears between the product image and name. Additionally, a slanted text ribbon can be placed in the upper left corner of the product image. The ribbon text can be set as permanent or retrieved from a separate field in the feed.

  • CTA button
    There is an area for the CTA button below the product slider. The CTA can also be added to the background image, eliminating the need for a separate CTA button. Specify the following for the CTA button in the asset script:

    • Short CTA message (max 25 characters), text font, and color

    • Button color and rounding of edges
       

  • General
    The default fonts used in the banner are Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Georgia, and Times. Custom fonts can be used, but the asset must include the fonts in .woff or .ttf format.

Dynamic Full Page with carousel (image + product slider)

In a full-page image, the product slider is in the lower frame. 

Size:

620x891

Banner elements:

  • Background: background colour or image 
    As a background, a background colour (default: white), or a background image 620x891px, max 100 KB (JPG, PNG), may be used. The background colour should be white behind the product slider if the product images do not have a transparent background.
     

  • Logo
    Image file (preferable PNG or SVG) with a transparent background.
    The logo file is not compulsory if the logo is visible in the background image. 

  • Heading text
    The banner has an area in the upper right for a short text (25 characters), which is not compulsory.

  • Image
    The size of the image area above the product slider is 560x316px. 
    Image format: JPG or PNG, 560x316px, max. 100 KB

The image can have its own link to which it directs to, regardless of the product displayed in the product slider. If no separate link is set for the image, it will direct to the address of product displayed in the product slider that is retrieved from the feed.

Product slider
The product image, product name, price and original price come from the feed. At least the product image is displayed on the slider. The following fields can be shown / hidden in the slider: product name (title), price (sale_price), original price (price). If there is no discounted price in the feed, the original price is automatically used in the price column. Please specify the fonts and colours for the product name, price, and original price in the DCO manuscript.

A separate, optional text can be assigned to the slider that is retrieved from the brand column in the feed. The text appears between the product image and the product name. In addition, it is possible to place a diagonal text ribbon at the top left of the product image. The ribbon text can be set to permanent, or it can be retrieved from the feed from a separate data field reserved for it.

  • CTA button
    Under the product slider there is a CTA (call to action) button. You can also add a CTA to a background image, in which case you do not need a separate CTA button. 
    In the DCO manuscript, define the following for the CTA button:

    • short call to action (max. 25 char.), text font and colour 

    • button colour and border rounding

  • General 
    A banner uses these default fonts: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Georgia and Times. 
    Or, you can use your fonts. To do so, send us the fonts in .woff or .ttf format.

Feed based instream-video

Dynamic instream video is a feed-based advertising solution suitable for video advertising, which combines both tactical and branding messages. Feed based instream video is well-suited for communicating product-centric messaging and increasing brand awareness through audiovisual means. Products and their information are retrieved from the customer's product feed or Google Sheets document.

For a DCO ad, we need the following materials:

  • Product description: keep it short so the whole description is visible. Max. char. count 70.

  • Price and normal price *Fields can be hidden.

  • You can define colour and choose font cut for all text fields.
    Default font: Montserrat. If the client wants to choose its own font for a VAST.template, the font files must be provided with the rest of the materials in .tff format.
